2012 Ribbon Report

2012 Awards Presentation

The 57th Annual Montana Science Fair is quickly approaching, and will once again be held at the University of Montana’s Adams Center. Last year, over 600 students from across Montana showcased their mastery of the scientific method, and a few exceptional students were even chosen to represent Montana in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), held in Los Angeles.

This year, the Montana State Science Fair is excited to welcome two new directors to our team, Dr. Earle Adams and Dr. Tony Ward. Dr. Adams received his PhD from Montana State University before joining the University of Montana as a research professor in chemistry. Dr. Ward earned his PhD from the University of Montana before joining the Center for Environmental Health Sciences. Both directors are actively researching air quality and environmental health concerns present in Montana, and are excited to experience their first fair!

As in previous years, all participants will receive a ribbon and t-shirt. Additionally, four students will be chosen to represent Montana at ISEF (all expenses paid), which is in Pittsburgh this year. This year, our shirt theme reflects Dr. Garon “G-Whiz” Smith’s presentation at last year’s awards ceremony concerning the feasibility of bees as dangerous material identifiers.
